Mission briefing:
Astra Militarum has been causing trouble on one of the human colonies near Catachan Outpost, killing innocents and causing unrest. This section of the galaxy is close to the Maelstorm, and is also the Space Marine and Imperial Guard homeworld sector. White Scars and Salamanders homeworlds are also relatively near.
Points: 500
Marine Objectives:
Send out your space marine unit and investigate the threat.
Imperial Guard Objectives:
Destroy the Space Marines.
RESULTS:
The Commissar ended up being a great commander, easily dispatching the SM Librarian in a close quarter combat challenge. The AM artillery was high above the ground on a rock outcrop surrounded by troops, which was hard to reach. The Terminator squad, however, was able to deep strike and take the heavy artillery out, and the land speeder was sweeping the rest of the AM soldiers with his Heavy Flamer, burning the shit out of them, while the other Space Marine squad of 5 tried to engage in battle with over 30-man strong squad of Imperial conscripts.
Although the battle was even, the Space Marines were not able to secure the objectives and ran out of time. The sheer number of Astra Militarum was able to compensate for the lack of armour. The Astra Militarum won in the last turn (turn 6) by a cunt hair, with their Commander joining the remaining Astra Militarum squad, then breaking off to secure objective.
Learning the game, also a few mistakes were made, which could have impacted the outcome of the game in anyones' favour. The game could very well come out to a draw.
